I tried first the kernel upgrade. For the time being, I'm not getting any freezes. :) I was even able to install the inkscape package via WiFi! :D

Thanks also Papasot for the hint, but as far as I'm not getting any freezes with the new kernel, I keep the Network Manager. ;)

Btw, my controller info from lscpi is the following:

Code: Select all

If kernel update solved the problem, there is no need to try another connection manager. I read an article sometime ago from the developers of connman, and they claim that every connection manager has to implement its own drivers for some devices, until kernel supports them. Fortunately the latter seems to be the case for your netbook.

I use a lenovo G510 laptop upgraded to 8GB of memory (since my previous lenovo G50-80 with also 8GB of memory died one evening :-)), which has a BCM43142 wireless adapter not supported natively, so every time i upgrade the kernel, i have to rebuild and reinstall the broadcom-sta driver for the new kernel to be able to use wifi. Next time i will buy a laptop i will check if all hardware is supported natively by the kernel.

You installed inkscape. Do you create vector graphics?

Unfortunately I'm ridiculously bad at graphics, either vector or raster. Occasionally I need to edit some svg files for an application.
